Lee Chong Wei might miss out Dubai Superseries Finals this year too. With no exciting players Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei or defending Champion Kento Momota the Dubai SS Finals will be such a bore.

As everybody knows, Lee Chong Wei has withdrawn from the ongoing China Super Series Premiere (SSP) due to his hamstring injury. The injury sustained at the Denmark Open forced him to withdraw from the French SS and China SSP. We were all hoping to see him in the Hong Kong Open as defending champion. But guess what, he is not playing there anymore due to a FEVER!! Can you believe it??

This will result in a very boring Dubai SS Finals if Lee Chong Wei misses it out as well. Here is the current Destination Dubai Rankings. (Before China SSP).

Note  : Only the top 8 ranked players play in the Dubai SS finals.

The point difference between LCW and the last qualifier on the list, Marc Zweibler is 5280 (43510-38230=5280). And for Chou Tien Chen to overtake LCW, he will need 10650 points.

The Chart below shows how much points are rewarded to players in a tournament.

If Chou Tien Chen reaches the quarter final stage of the China SSP and Hong Kong SS, then LCW is out of the race.

Considering the fact that Ng Ka Long, Axelsen and Zweibler can easily overtake LCW in two tournaments, LCW will most likely be at 8th rank after the Hong Kong SS.

However, a wild card is generally given to the Olympic Gold medalist in an olympic year. In this case Chen Long. But LCW is more popular and has more fan following than Chen Long. And LCW has not played the SS finals for the last two years. We hope BWF won’t sacrifice LCW for a spot for CL. Lets wait and see.
